Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026

About this policy

This policy describes how the operator of asmallbite.com (“we”) handles personal information connected to the Asmallbite food blog. Where a feature is described below as optional, it applies only if it is switched on for the site. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].

Information from server logs

Whenever a page is requested, the web server normally records technical details such as the IP address, the browser and device type, the address of the page asked for, the referring page and the time. These records help us keep the site running, diagnose errors and spot abusive traffic. They are not used to build a profile of any named individual.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site may use cookies, local storage or small tracking pixels. Their uses can include remembering simple preferences, measuring which recipes and articles are read, showing advertising and recording that a visit came through an affiliate link. If analytics, advertising or affiliate features are enabled, the providers behind them may set their own identifiers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some of them may stop parts of the site working as expected, and it will not prevent every kind of collection. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request where the law requires it. A plain Do Not Track header has no agreed meaning and may not change how a service behaves.

Messages you send us

If you email us or use a contact form, we receive the details you choose to include, such as your name, address and message. We use them to reply, to review corrections and to keep a record of the conversation. Please do not send health or financial details.

Newsletters

If a newsletter is offered, we use the email address you provide to send it and to manage your choices. The email service may record whether messages were delivered or opened. Every issue includes a way to unsubscribe, and we keep a minimal record so that we do not mail you again afterwards.

Advertising, affiliate links and embeds

Advertising partners, where used, may collect identifiers and browsing activity to show relevant adverts and measure results. Under some privacy laws this can count as sharing or targeted advertising, and you may have a right to opt out. Affiliate links can pass a referral code to a retailer so a purchase can be credited. Embedded videos or maps can contact their provider as soon as the page loads.

Who else handles data

We rely on outside providers for hosting, security, email delivery, analytics and any advertising on the site, and they process data only as needed for those services or under their own notices. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people or the site from harm, or in connection with a sale of the site. Sites we link to have their own policies, which we do not control.

Keeping and protecting information

We keep information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, then delete or anonymise it unless a legal duty or an open dispute requires otherwise. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no website or email can be guaranteed completely secure.

International transfers

Our providers may store or process data in countries other than your own. Where the law requires it, we rely on recognised safeguards for those transfers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to certain uses, or to opt out of sharing for advertising. Email [email protected] and say what you would like. We may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request, and we will not treat you unfairly for making one.

Children

Asmallbite is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the latest version, and where the law requires it we will give additional notice of significant changes.
