Soya Chunks Fry Recipe / Meal Maker Fry Recipe with stepwise pics and a short YouTube video.  Also, if you like my video, please share it and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to my channel. Soy Chunks or Meal Maker are made from de-fatted soy flour, a by-product after extracting soybean oil. This recipe comes very handy, when running out of veggies, or if you have any sudden cravings for a deep fried dish and furthermore it is a perfect starter or even goes well with Sambar, Rasam meal or with Roti too. It is a great alternative to meat and has a protein content which is equal to that of meat. Also, if you have a pack of soya in hand, you can add it to, so many dishes like Pulao, Soup, Sabji etc. Also, I have added soya in my, Veg Salna Recipe and I will share a Soya Biryani Recipe very soon, so keep checking my blog, if interested check my  100+ Lockdown Recipes.

  • 2 Cups Soya
  • 4 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 2 to 3 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1½ tsp Garam Masala Powder Link for Garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste Link for Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • ¼ Cup Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  • Firstly, measure the rice flour, chilli powder, garam masala powder, ginger-garlic paste and salt ready.
  • Then, chop the curry leaves and coriander leaves finely.
  • Also, measure 2 cups of soya and keep it.
  • Roll boil water in a pan, then add the soya and little salt.
  • Cook covered in medium flame for 3 minutes.
  • Drain the water completely.
  • Transfer the cooked soya to a strainer. Using a ladle, press it well, so the extra water drains.
  • Do the same with all the soya, there should not be water left, else it becomes watery when grinding.
  • Transfer the soya to a mixer.

Notes

Tips for Meal Maker Fry

1. I used mini soya, if using big variety reduce the quantity to 1 cup.
2. Ensure to cook the soya properly till soft but not mushy. Otherwise, Soya Chunks Fry Recipe will be hard after frying.
3. If you want to avoid the smell of the soya, add 1 or 2 tbsp of milk when cooking.
4. After cooking, rinse the soya well to remove the dust and debris.
5. Also, drain the water completely after rinsing, else it becomes watery while grinding.
6. Grind the cooked soya little coarsely to get a nice texture, after frying.
7. Don't add rice flour more than mentioned, else the soya fry turns hard.
8. Adjust chilli powder as per spice level required for this Meal Maker Fry.
9. Make small or medium sized soya balls and also fry it in medium flame, so it gets cooked inside properly.
10. This soya dough can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days and fried whenever needed.
