Sathu Maavu Laddu Recipe | Millet Laddu Recipe with stepwise pics and a short YouTube video. Also, if you like my video, please share it and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to my channel. This ladoo is made with multigrain health mix powder / Sathu Maavu, I usually prepare a sweet or savoury version of porridge/kanji using this mix and that would be my breakfast for some of the busy weekdays. I used homemade Sathu Maavu and I have already shared the recipe in my blog, a few months back but if you don’t have it in hand, you can go ahead with store-bought one. This is such a healthy indulgence for your sudden sweet cravings and you can have it without any guilt too, also perfect for toddlers if you want to introduce some sweets or avoid junk foods. The time needed to make this ladoo is just 20 minutes altogether, the pros are no white sugar is used nor loads of ghee so definitely, we need not count about the calories. Equipment
- Stovetop
Ingredients
1 Cup = 250 ML, 1 tsp = 5 ML
- 2 Cups Sathu Maavu / Health Mix Powder Link for Homemade Sathu Maavu
- 1 Cup Jaggery Powder
- 2 to 3 tbsp Ghee Link for Homemade Ghee.
Instructions
- Set all the ingredients ready. I used homemade Sathu Maavu, you can use store-bought one too.
- Heat a pan and add 2 cups of sathu maavu. For more flavour, you can roast the maavu / flour with 1 tsp of ghee too.
- Dry roast it in low flame for 6 to 8 minutes, until nice aroma wafts and a little colour change. Ensure not to burn the maavu otherwise, the ladoo smells bad. Keep the roasted maavu aside.
- To a pan, add 2 cups of jaggery.
- Pour 1/2 cup of water. Heat and melt till the jaggery dissolves completely, no string consistency is required.
- Directly, filter the jaggery over the flour. This step is to remove the impurities from the jaggery.
- Mix it well with a ladle as the mixture will be hot.
- Heat 2 to 3 tbsp of ghee in a small pan.
- Pour the ghee little by little on the sathu maavu mixture. When the mixture is warm itself start making the ladoo, if it cools down you will not be able to shape it.
- Pinch a portion of the flour and roll into balls of equal size. If you are not able to roll, add little more ghee.
- Do the same with the remaining flour, always, roll the ladoo tightly so it does not break easily.Try this healthy Millet laddu Recipe and serve it to your kids.

Notes
Tips for Sathu Maavu Laddu Recipe
1. I used homemade Sathu Maavu / Flour, you can try it with store-bought one too. 2. Do roast the flour in low flame and ensure not to burn it, otherwise, the ladoo smells bad. 3. For more flavour, roast the flour with 1 tsp of ghee. 4. Adjust jaggery as per sweetness required for this Millet Laddu Recipe. Jaggery can be replaced with palm jaggery also. 5. Filtering the jaggery is important to remove the impurities. But don't add water more than mentioned, else the flour mixture turns watery and it cannot be shaped. 6. Also, no string consistency is required for jaggery, just dissolve it. 7. If the laddu mixture cools down, it cannot be rolled. So do the rolling quickly. 8. If the ladoo mixture is hot, grease your hands with powdered sugar, rice flour or cold water while rolling. 9.If the mixture cools or harden, just heat it for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame. The jaggery melts and loosens so that it can be easily rolled. 10. Don’t add ghee more than mentioned, else it changes the colour and the ladoo turns sticky. 11. Do roll the Sathu Maavu Laddu Recipe tightly, so it doesn’t break easily. 12. The shelf life of this ladoo is 10 days when stored in a clean and dry jar. 13. I have used cardamoms when preparing the Sathu Maavu itself, so didn't use now.
