Ingredients

1 Cup = 250 ML, 1 tsp = 5ML

    Wet Ingredients

    • ¾ Cup Milk
    • 1 tsp Vinegar
    • ½ Cup Oil

    Dry Ingredients

    • 1½ Cup Maida / All purpose Flour
    • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
    • 1 tsp Baking Powder
    • ¼ tsp Baking Soda
    • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
    • 6 Oreo Biscuits

    For the Icing

    • 1 Cup Fresh Cream
    • 2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
    • ½ tsp Vanilla Essence
    • ¼ Cup Oreo Biscuit Powder

    Instructions

    • First, measure and keep all the ingredients ready. Milk should be at room temperature and chop the oreo biscuits roughly. (Watch my Youtube video link for complete steps)
    • In a bowl pour the milk, vinegar and set aside for 5 minutes to turn as buttermilk. To a wide bowl, pour the buttermilk and oil.
    • Place a sieve over the same bowl, then add maida, powdered sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Now sift everything once.
    • Using a hand whisk or electric blender, whisk till the batter turns smooth and fluffy. Then, add the vanilla essence and crushed oreo biscuits.
    • Fold it gently, don't whisk. Then, brush a baking pan with oil and dust little flour all over or line it with a butter paper. Transfer the batter to the pan and tap the tray twice so the air bubble releases.
    • Take a heavy-bottomed pan and keep a stand inside. Let it preheat in a medium flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Place the cake batter inside the pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes in medium flame or a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. This cake can also be baked in a pre-heated oven for 35 to 40 minutes at 180c.
    • Once cooled, invert the tray on a wire rack and gently tap to remove the cake. Then slice it into halves with a sharp knife.
    • For the Icing: Keep the cream + powdered sugar, vanilla essence and oreo biscuit powder ready. To the cream - sugar mixture, pour the vanilla essence.
    • Using a hand whisk or electric whipper, whip it in high speed for 3 minutes until the cream reaches stiff peak consistency. Now add the oreo biscuit powder and whisk it once.
    • Assembling the Cake: Cover the bottom layer of the cake with icing. Then, cover it with another piece of cake, followed by icing. Cover the sides also with icing and followed by decorations as per your choice (check the Youtube video link).

    Notes

Tips for Oreo Biscuit Cake Recipe

    1. Ensure the milk is at room temperature not chilled.
    2. I baked a 2 layered cake only. But if you want to go with 4 layers, just double all the ingredients, bake 2 separate cakes and slice the cake into 4 pieces.
    3. Don't miss to add biscuit pieces in the batter, as it gives a nice crunch while eating.
    4. Always cool the cake and then slice it, else it gets crumbled.
    5. Ensure the cake is completely cooled before doing the icing. Otherwise, the icing melts and becomes a mess.
    6.  In Microwave and OTG oven: preheat for 10 minutes and bake the cake in convection mode at 180c for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Common tips in Baking
    1. Baking powder cannot be substituted with baking soda, both are different.
    2. Ensure baking powder and baking soda is within the expiry date, else the cake won't raise and turns spongy.
    3. Once you prepare the batter, bake it immediately, otherwise, the baking powder de-activate and the cake won't raise.
    4. Don’t over whisk the batter, else the cake becomes hard.
    5. Choose correct sized baking tray, else while baking itself the cake overflows. To avoid this fill the batter to 3/4th level of the cake tray.
    6. If the cake doesn’t get baked in the centre, cover the cake with an aluminium foil or butter paper and bake for another 10 minutes.
