Ingredients

1 Cup = 250 ML, 1 tsp = 5 ML

  • ½ Cup Almonds
  • ⅓ Cup Cashews
  • 1 tbsp Pistachios
  • 2 Pods Cardamom

Instructions

Ingredients Required

  • Measure 1/2 cup of almonds, 1/3 cup of cashews, 1 tbsp of pistachios, and 2 cardamom pods.
Notes: Even a very small piece of crushed dry ginger (sukku) can be dry roasted with other ingredients.
It helps to relieve cold, cough, and gastric problems for babies.
  • To a pan, add the almonds and dry roast it on low flame. I used the almonds with skin, if you want to remove them, read the method I have shared below.
Quick Tips: Ensure to roast the nuts in low flame, else it gets burnt and smells bad.
Other Method: Blanching the Almonds (To remove the skin of the almonds)
Heat 1 cup of water in a pan until rolling boil and add almonds to it. Keep it undisturbed for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, add cold water to it and drain the water completely from it.
Transfer the drained almonds to a clean cloth and pat dry them. Peel the skin off from the almonds and pat dry them once again.
  • Once it turns slightly brown or until it's hot to touch, remove the almonds from the pan.
Keep aside in a plate and cool it down.
Notes: Don't dry roast the nuts for too long as it may leave out the oil.
  • Now, add the cashews, pistachios, and cardamom pods.  Dry roast all the ingredients until it's hot to touch.
Quick Tips: Instead of roasting the nuts, simply sun dry them and grind too.
  • Set aside all the roasted ingredients, until it cools down completely.
Notes: Make sure you cool down thoroughly before blending, otherwise, it will leave out moisture.
  • Transfer the roasted and cooled nuts to a dry mixer.
Notes: Keep a separate jar to prepare your baby's food, if you use the regular one, the food may smell different with masalas or have spiciness.
  • Use the pulse option in the mixie. Don't grind too much, just pulse it for 10 seconds.
Notes: Never run the mixer for more than 10 seconds when grinding, as nuts may leave out oil if you blend continuously.
  • Once it cools down, store the powder in a clean and dry container.
Optional Step - If needed, sift the powder using a sieve. Set the fine powder aside. Collect the hard particles and add them to the blender.
  • Again grind the particles using the pulse option for 10 seconds, then sift them again and collect the smooth powder.
