Navratri Sundal Recipes – As we are celebrating the Navratri festival from 17th October to 25th October this year, I have compiled some Sundal recipes. Sundal is a South Indian snack prepared with cooked legumes, lentils followed by a simple seasoning and topped up with freshly grated coconut. It is served as prasad during festivals like Navaratri, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chathurthi in temples and homes after completing pooja. Not only during the festival time, but you can also give this protein-rich navratri sundal varieties as an evening snack too for your kids. Sundal recipes are offered to the Goddess during the 9 day Navratri festival in Tamil households who keep the Golu and offer this as Neivedyam. Usually, on the 1st day, Karamani / Cowpeas Sundal is made and ended with Navratna Sundal prepared with 9 legumes on the 9th day. Please click each picture below to read the full recipe, for step-by-step photos, useful tips, and some with short video recipes too.
