More about Navratri (Source: wiki)
Navratri in Sanskrit literally means 9 nights is a multi-day Hindu festival celebrated in the autumn every year. The festival is celebrated in the Hindu calendar month Ashvin, which typically falls in the month of September and October. In Tamilnadu, Navratri has been a historic tradition with goddess Lakshmi, Saraswathi and Durga on the focus. Another notable Tamil tradition is a celebration of the festival with golu dolls. These dolls include Gods, Goddess, animals, birds and rural life all in a miniature design. People set up their own creative themes in their homes called kolu, invite relatives and friends to their homes to view the kolu design and serve sweets, snacks and sundal as prasad.
