Notes

Tips for Green Gram Sundal Recipe

  1. Soak the green gram for at least 6 to 8 hours, so it will be easy to cook.
  2. I cooked the green gram separately. It can also be pressure cooked for 2 whistles
  3. Addition of salt while cooking the green gram, prevents it from turning mushy.
  4. Adjust chilli as per spice level required for this Sweet Pachai Payaru Sundal.
  5. Red chilli can be replaced with green chilli too.
  6. Always filter the jaggery to remove the impurities.
  7. Just heat the jaggery till it thickens a little, no 1 string consistency is required.
  8. You can add 2 tbsp of jaggery powder  too at last directly, if the jaggery is pure.
