Cheese Garlic Bread Recipe on Tawa with step-by-step pics and a short Youtube video. If you like my video, please do SUBSCRIBE to my channel ‘Asmallbite’. This Garlic Cheese Toast Recipe is a quick snack, really cheesy, crispy with the flavor of fresh garlic and butter. There isn’t any recipe for this as such, you can add or minus the ingredients as per your taste. The recipe is also very straight with minimal ingredients, once you have the mixture ready, spread it over the slice of bread, and toast it on the tawa, until the cheese melts. It is an ideal party starter or for your kids evening snack, but tastes the best only when served hot., so it doesn’t suit for lunch box. Furthermore, any type of bread like white, brown, milk, sandwich, or multigrain can be used for this recipe. If you are calorie conscious, skip the cheese to make it as plain garlic bread and use olive oil instead of butter. Alternatively, the recipe can also be baked in a convection oven instead of making in a tawa (do read the tips section). Equipment

  • Stovetop
  • Dosa Tawa

Ingredients

  • 6 Bread Slices
  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • 2 tbsp Garlic (Chopped)
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Flakes
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • ½ Cup Grated Cheese

Instructions

  • Take 6 bread slices, 2 tbsp of finely chopped garlic, 1 tsp of red chilli flakes and 1 tsp of oregano. Then, measure 1/4 cup of soft butter and 1/2 cup of grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar cheese).
  • Mix the butter once without any lumps and then add the finely chopped garlic.
  • Now add the oregano and red chilli flakes.
  • Combine everything well. Apply this garlic-butter spread on one side of the bread slice. Do the same with the remaining bread slices.
  • Heat a tawa or non-stick pan and place the garlic spread side facing down. Toast till golden color and crispy in low to medium flame.
  • Transfer the toasted bread to a plate. Then, sprinkle some grated cheese on the toasted side. Immediately, place the bread on the tawa (empty side downwards).
  • Cover it with a lid with a small hole and toast for 2 seconds only. Do not toast for a long time else the cheese becomes like a paste and the bread becomes soggy (cheese should slightly melt). Remove and if preferred, sprinkle with little more oregano, red chili flakes, and basil. It tastes good when served hot.

Notes

Tips for Garlic Bread Toast Recipe

  1. Garlic can either be chopped finely or crushed. Add more garlic if you want more flavor.
  2. There are no specific measurements for this Garlic Cheese Toast Recipe, you can adjust butter, spices, and cheese as per your requirement.
  3. Use melted or softened butter at room temperature so it will be easy to spread.
  4. Do not skip red chili flakes, oregano or can add basil too, else the toast tastes very bland.
  5. Chilli flakes can be replaced with the same quantity of pepper powder too.
  6. For the low-calorie version, skip the cheese and use olive oil instead of butter.
  7. I used milk bread, even wheat, multigrain, or sandwich bread can be used. But use day-old bread, so it doesn't get crumbled.
  8. I made this Cheese Garlic Bread Recipe on Tawa, but you can bake in a convection oven at 180c for 12 to 15 minutes.
  9. Toast the bread on low flame, else the bread might burn from the bottom and smells bad.
  10. Furthermore, this garlic toast tastes good when served hot and immediately.
