Chettinad Beans Poriyal | Beans Palya Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Beans
- 1 Big Onion / பெரிய வெங்காயம்
- 2 Green Chilli / பச்சைமிளகாய்
- 2 tbsp Moong Dal / பாசிப்பருப்பு
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder / மஞ்சள்தூள்
- 1.5 tsp Sambar Powder / சாம்பார் தூள் Link for Sambar Powder
- 1 tbsp Grated coconut / துருவிய தேங்காய்
- Salt / உப்பு To Taste
To Temper
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds / கடுகு
- 1/2 tsp Urad Dal / உளுத்தம்பருப்பு
- 1/2 tsp Jeera / சீரகம்
- 1 Red Chilli / வரமிளகாய்
- 1 Pinch Hing / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 Sprig Curry Leaves / கருவேப்பில்லை
- 3 tsp Oil
Instructions
- Trim the edges of the beans. Wash and chop the beans, onion and slit green chilli. Soak moong dal in water for 30 minutes and drain water.
- Heat oil in a kadai and temper with the items given under the table 'To Temper'. Add Onion, green chilli and fry till transparent.
- Now add beans, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt. Sprinkle little water and add soaked moong dal. Cook for 5-6 minutes in low flame. Finally add grated coconut and mix well.Serve this Chettinad Beans Poriyal Recipe with steamed rice and sambar.

3. Don't overcook beans or else it will lose crunchiness.
Method for Chettinad Beans Poriyal

2. Heat oil in a kadai and temper with the items given under the table ‘To Temper‘. Add Onion, green chilli and fry till transparent.

3. Now add beans, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt. Sprinkle little water and add soaked moong dal. Cook for 5-6 minutes in low flame. Finally add grated coconut and mix well.
