The Tamil monsoon festival celebrated on the 18th day of the Tamil month of Aadi (mid-July to mid-August), also called as Padinettam Perukku or Aadi 18 festival. Padinettam Perukku literally means, ‘Padinettam’- 18 day of the Aadi month and Perukku – Rising. It is a unique festival celebrated in South India, dedicated to the perennial river basins, major lakes, wells and tanks too. This festival is observed and celebrated mainly by women as a water-ritual,  to honour the Mother nature. The families spend the evening in the river banks, by eating variety rice-like, Lemon Rice, Tamarind Rice, Curd Rice, Coconut Rice, Tomato Rice and Vada with payasam etc. Hope this Aadi Perukku Recipes / Aadi 18 Recipes collection helps you all, at least a bit, I have shared all the recipes with step by step pics, written recipe, a lot of tips and some with videos too. Please click each picture to get the full recipe.
